Despite clearly stated treatment duration restrictions in the product labeling, some clinicians continue to prescribe ketorolac (Toradol, etc) for longer than the recommended duration. Pharmacists are questioning whether ketorolac is more effective than other NSAIDs and the legality of dispensing ketorolac against label warnings. This article reviews the efficacy of ketorolac, rationale for its treatment duration limitation, and its appropriate use.
